Graeme McFarlane
LL.B. (University of British Columbia, 1998) Graeme practises exclusively in the areas of labour and employment law in both federal and provincial jurisdictions. His clients are varied and represent the rich diversity of businesses in British Columbia. Graeme also represents select individuals in the entertainment industry. Graeme has appeared before courts of all jurisdictions in British Columbia as well as before the Labour Relations Board, the Human Rights Tribunal, the Employment Standards Tribunal and arbitrators. Before starting as a lawyer, Graeme acted as a law clerk at the Supreme Court of British Columbia. Prior to his legal career, Graeme spent a number of years as a labour relations specialist in the private sector. Graeme brings his unique experience and education to bear on his client's problems with a view to creating long lasting strategically sound solutions to workplace problems. Graeme is a member of the B.C. HRMA's Peopletalk Advisory Committee and has written a number of articles related to the challenges of the modern workplace. Graeme also serves as a director of the Working Opportunity Fund, which provides venture capital to qualifying B.C. companies primarily in the high technology sector. Graeme is a member of the Canadian Bar Association, the British Columbia Human Resources Association, and the Canadian Association of Counsel to Employers. Graeme has written a number of articles on employment and labour subjects and has prepared for and presented at a variety of educational conferences. When not working, Graeme can be found chasing a small plastic ball around a local golf course, sampling a nice bottle of wine, or enjoying one of B.C.'s mountain vistas while skiing. |
