James D. Kondopulos

James acts for, and provides legal advice to, employers in employment, labour relations and human rights matters.  He also provides representation to employers and employees in wrongful dismissal actions.  James has represented, and appeared on behalf of, clients before a number of judicial and administrative bodies, including the B.C. Court of Appeal, Supreme Court, Provincial Court, Labour Relations Board and Human Rights Tribunal.

James is a member of the B.C. Human Resources Management Association and B.C. Labour Law, Employment Law and Human Rights Subsections of the Canadian Bar Association.  He is an excellent legal researcher, and has prepared legal opinions, papers and presentations addressing a variety of workplace issues.  James has written for PeopleTalk magazine, a very widely circulated B.C. Human Resources Management Association publication, and has been a guest speaker for the Continuing Legal Education Society of British Columbia, at Employers' Network Conferences and at the Roper Greyell Morning Education Series. He is also the author of select monthly newsletters of the firm, which are distributed to clients and other interested parties.

James holds a U.B.C. Law degree and U.B.C. Commerce degree with a specialization in Accounting.  Before being called to the B.C. Bar, he articled at the Vancouver office of a large national law firm.  James joined Greyell MacPhail, a predecessor to Roper Greyell, in 2004.

James was the valedictorian of both his Law graduating class and Commerce graduating class.  He was also designated a Wesbrook Scholar.  This designation is reserved for only a handful of U.B.C. students who stand in the top of their class and have a demonstrated ability to work with, serve and lead others.  During his years at U.B.C., James served on the University Senate.  He now volunteers as a moot court judge in the U.B.C. Law Moot Court Program.

James has participated in a number of local soccer leagues. He also enjoys playing waterpolo, and has won several medals, including a B.C. Provincial Waterpolo silver medal and Vancouver and District Regional Waterpolo gold medal.  In his spare time, James likes to run and in-line skate.
