James D. Kondopulos

James acts for, and provides legal advice to, employers in employment, labour relations and human rights matters. He also provides representation to employers and employees in wrongful dismissal actions, and investigates and reports on allegations of workplace harassment, bullying and code of conduct violations. James has represented, and appeared on behalf of, clients before a number of judicial and administrative bodies, including the B.C. Court of Appeal, Supreme Court, Provincial Court, Labour Relations Board and Human Rights Tribunal.

In addition to being a member of the BC Human Resources Management Association (BC HRMA) and the Canadian Association of Counsel to Employers (CACE), James is the Chair of the Executive of the B.C. Employment Law Subsection of the Canadian Bar Association (CBA), an Executive Member of the National Labour and Employment Law Section of the CBA, and a member of the B.C. Labour Law and Human Rights Subsections of the CBA. He is an excellent legal researcher, and has prepared legal opinions, presentations and papers addressing a variety of workplace issues. James has been a guest speaker for BC HRMA, for the Continuing Legal Education Society of British Columbia, for Lancaster House, at Employers' Network Conferences and at the Roper Greyell Morning Education Series. He has written for BC HRMA’s PeopleTalk and HRVoice magazines, and for many years was the author and editor of Roper Greyell’s monthly newsletters.

James joined Greyell MacPhail, a predecessor to Roper Greyell, in 2004. He holds a U.B.C. Law degree and U.B.C. Commerce degree with a specialization in Accounting. During his years at U.B.C., James served on the University Senate and was the valedictorian of both his Law graduating class and Commerce graduating class. He now volunteers as a moot court judge in the U.B.C. Law Moot Court Program.

James has participated in a number of local soccer leagues and has won several medals playing waterpolo. In his spare time, he likes to run and in-line skate.
